01 - About Nēbu

The brand, the safety, the why.

Are Nēbu products safe?
Yes. Every Nēbu fragrance oil is formulated free of phthalates, parabens, glycols, and other compounds commonly found in low-grade home fragrance. The cold-air nebulizing diffusion process releases pure fragrance only - no propellants, no heat-degraded byproducts, no aerosol residue - making it safe for homes with children, pets, and people sensitive to artificial fragrance.
What makes Nēbu different from other luxury home fragrance brands?
Three things. First, our oils are blended specifically for the precise viscosity our nebulizing compressors require - they atomize without residue and preserve top notes that heat or ultrasonic diffusers destroy. Second, the diffusers themselves are engineered in-house and pressure-tested in Lake Park, Florida - not relabeled white-label hardware. Third, the entire system (diffusers + oils + app) is designed to scent at the scale of a real home or business, not just one corner of a room. See our side-by-side comparison for the full breakdown.
Where are Nēbu products made?
Nēbu fragrance oils are blended and bottled in the United States to maintain strict control over raw ingredients, viscosity, and safety standards. Diffusers are assembled and pressure-tested at our Lake Park, Florida facility before they ship. Read more about how we got here.
02 - Diffuser Technology

How cold-air nebulizing actually works.

What is cold-air diffusion and nebulizing technology?
A cold-air nebulizing diffuser uses pressurized air to atomize pure fragrance oil into nano-particles, then releases that fine mist into the room. No water, no heat, no aerosol propellant. The result is a pure, concentrated scent that carries further and lasts longer than what you'd get from a heat-based or ultrasonic diffuser - and because no heat is involved, the top notes of the fragrance arrive intact. Deeper dive: how cold-air diffusion works.
How is nebulizing different from ultrasonic or heat-based diffusion?
Ultrasonic diffusers vibrate water and a tiny amount of oil into a wet mist - fine for a small bedside table, but they dilute the fragrance and leave residue on nearby surfaces. Heat-based diffusers (reed warmers, electric burners) destroy the volatile top notes of a fragrance, so what reaches your nose is only the heavy base notes. Cold-air nebulizing is the only method used by luxury hotels and high-end retailers because it preserves the full fragrance profile and scales to whole-room or whole-house coverage. More on our waterless technology.
Will a Nēbu diffuser damage my walls, furniture, or electronics?
No. Because the diffuser releases an oil-less, dry mist - not a wet aerosol - the fragrance doesn't condense on surfaces. It won't stain walls, mark fabrics, leave residue on framed art, or interfere with electronics. This is one of the reasons hospitality properties and high-end retailers use this category of diffuser instead of plug-in air fresheners.
How loud is a Nēbu diffuser?
Whisper-quiet. Most users report that they can't hear it from across the room when running on default settings. The internal compressor is dampened and the unit produces a low hum during active scenting cycles - comparable to a refrigerator at a distance.
03 - Choosing the Right Diffuser

Which Nēbu is right for your space?

How do I choose between the NL50, NL100, NL200, NL300, and HVAC diffusers?
It's a matter of square footage and how seamlessly you want the scenting to disappear into the architecture. The NL50 covers up to 400 sq ft - ideal for a single room. The NL100 handles up to 500 sq ft. The NL200 covers up to 800 sq ft of open living space. The NL300 is the portable / Bluetooth-controlled large diffuser. The Whole House HVAC Scent Diffuser connects to your central air system and scents up to 3,000 sq ft through your existing ductwork. Browse the full lineup at our diffuser collection.
What's the maximum space a single diffuser can cover?
3,000 sq ft when using the Whole House HVAC Scent Diffuser connected to your central air. For standalone (non-HVAC) configurations, 1,500 sq ft of open space on the HVAC unit used as a standalone, or 800 sq ft on the NL200.
What's the difference between standalone and HVAC diffusers?
Standalone diffusers (NL50-NL300) sit in a single space and scent the air immediately around them - ideal for one room or one open zone. HVAC scent diffusers connect to your home's central air conditioning or furnace and release fragrance through your existing ductwork, so every room your air system serves gets the same scent at the same intensity. For whole-home fragrance, HVAC is the only architecture that delivers uniform coverage on a single unit. See our HVAC scenting guide for the full picture.
How should I set the intensity on my Nēbu diffuser?
Start at a medium setting and walk through the space after 10-15 minutes. Adjust up or down based on what you smell at the far edge of the room - that's the level you want, because fragrance is always strongest closest to the unit. The HVAC diffuser supports 20 distinct intensity levels via the Nēbu app, so you can fine-tune by time of day or by room.
Where should I place my Nēbu diffuser?
Think about airflow and people movement. Place the diffuser where air naturally circulates - near an open doorway, in line with HVAC vents, or in a hallway between rooms - and slightly away from where people sit or sleep, since fragrance is strongest closest to the unit. Keep it upright at all times. Laying the diffuser on its side or at an angle can cause oil to enter the compressor and damage the unit.
04 - HVAC & Whole-House Scenting

Scenting an entire home, through the air system you already have.

What is an HVAC scent diffuser and how does it work?
An HVAC scent diffuser is a whole-house fragrance system that connects to your central air conditioning or furnace and releases fragrance through your existing ductwork. The Nēbu HVAC diffuser uses cold-air nebulizing - no heat, no water - to atomize pure fragrance oil into nano-particles, then injects that fine mist into your HVAC airstream. When your air system runs, the scent travels through your ducts and exits every supply vent - silently and uniformly. The result is a hotel-lobby-quality fragrance experience throughout the entire home. Read the full guide to whole-home scent diffusion.
Will an HVAC scent diffuser work with my central air system?
Yes - the Nēbu HVAC scent diffuser is compatible with most standard forced-air HVAC and furnace systems. It includes the fittings and hose needed to connect directly to your ductwork or plenum, and it runs on a standard 110V outlet. No electrician, no separate ductwork, no plumbing.
Will an HVAC scent diffuser damage my furnace or AC?
No. The Nēbu HVAC unit is engineered to add no measurable load to your air handler and uses pure fragrance oils calibrated to not condense, leave residue, or corrode duct surfaces. The injection point is downstream of your air filter, so the system continues to operate within its designed parameters.
How many square feet does one HVAC unit cover?
Up to 3,000 sq ft when connected to your HVAC system - enough for most homes on a single unit. For homes larger than 3,000 sq ft or those with separate HVAC zones, multiple units can be programmed to a single schedule.
Can I use the HVAC diffuser without ductwork?
Yes. The HVAC unit also works as a standalone diffuser for large open spaces and commercial areas, covering up to 1,500 sq ft when used outside the HVAC. The kit includes both the HVAC fittings and a standalone nozzle.
05 - Fragrance Oils

What's actually in the bottle.

Do Nēbu fragrance oils contain phthalates or parabens?
No. Every Nēbu fragrance oil is crafted in the USA and specifically blended to be vegan and free of phthalates, parabens, glycols, and other harmful chemicals. We control the ingredient list at every step because our diffusers are sold on the trust that what comes out of them is genuinely clean. Full ingredient philosophy on our About Our Fragrance Oils page.
Are Nēbu oils essential oils or fragrance oils?
Nēbu oils are luxury fragrance oils - complex blends formulated by perfumers to deliver consistent, multi-note compositions. True essential oils (single-botanical distillates) can vary widely batch-to-batch, have shorter projection, and are too thick for nebulizing compressors. Our fragrance oils are blended to the exact viscosity our diffusers require. Explore the full fragrance library.
How long does one bottle of fragrance oil last?
Depends on the diffuser and your settings. On a small NL50 at default settings, a 10 ml bottle typically runs 30-45 days. On the Whole House HVAC unit at typical residential settings, expect 100-200 ml of oil per month - meaning a 250 ml bottle lasts 6-8 weeks. The HVAC diffuser's 20 intensity levels let you tune oil consumption to your preference.
Can I use generic essential oils in a Nēbu diffuser?
No - and doing so voids the warranty. Nēbu nebulizing compressors are calibrated for a very specific oil viscosity. Third-party oils - even ones labeled "compatible" - can clog the nebulizing chamber, damage internal components, and dramatically shorten the life of the diffuser. They also won't atomize cleanly, which means less scent and more residue.
Are Nēbu fragrance oils safe for pets and children?
Yes. The cold-air nebulizing process atomizes oil to safe atmospheric concentrations when distributed through the air system. Because there's no propellant, no heat-degraded compound, and no aerosol residue, the diffused fragrance is safe for homes with pets and children. As with any home fragrance, ensure adequate ventilation; consult your veterinarian if you have animals with known respiratory sensitivities.
What if I'm sensitive to certain fragrances?
We recommend starting with our Find Your Fragrance guide, or working with our Fragrance Concierge for a personal recommendation. Test a few in your space at a low intensity setting before committing to a full bottle. Some fragrance families (florals, citrus, woods, gourmands) read very differently from person to person; sampling first is the surest way to find your match.
06 - The Nēbu App

Bluetooth, scheduling, and remote control.

How do I set up the Nēbu app?
Download the "Nēbu Luxury" app from the iOS App Store or Google Play. Plug in your diffuser, open the app, and grant Bluetooth access when prompted. Refresh the device list; your diffuser should appear within seconds. The default pairing password is 1234. Once connected, you can create up to 5 weekly scenting schedules and choose from preset scent profiles or build your own. Full setup walkthrough on our diffuser instructions page.
Why won't my diffuser connect to the app?
Three things to check. First, confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and that you granted the Nēbu app permission to use it. Second, make sure the diffuser is plugged in and powered (the indicator light should be on). Third, your phone needs to be within ~30 feet of the diffuser for the initial pairing. If it still won't connect, close the app fully, restart it, and try again.
Can multiple people control the same diffuser from different phones?
Yes. Each Nēbu diffuser can be paired with multiple phones using the same pairing password. Schedules sync to the diffuser itself, so any change made on one phone takes effect immediately for everyone - useful in shared homes and small offices.
07 - Care & Troubleshooting

Keeping your Nēbu running at its best.

How do I clean my Nēbu diffuser?
When switching between fragrances, run a small amount of 91% isopropyl alcohol through the unit for 5-10 minutes to clear the previous oil from the nebulizing chamber. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Never submerge the diffuser in water and never use household cleaners - they can damage the seals and the internal compressor.
What if my diffuser stops producing mist?
Usually a clogged nebulizing nozzle. Run isopropyl alcohol through the unit (per the cleaning steps above) to clear it. If mist doesn't return after cleaning, email hello@nebuluxury.com with your order number - within the 180-day warranty window, we'll repair or replace the unit at no charge. Full warranty terms on the Scent Diffuser Warranty page.
Why does the scent seem weaker than when I first bought it?
Two common causes. First, your nose adapts (olfactory fatigue) to a scent you live with daily - guests will still notice it clearly. Second, the nebulizing chamber may need cleaning if you've been running it heavily without a flush. Try the isopropyl alcohol cleaning cycle, then switch to a different fragrance family for a few days to reset your sense of smell.

09 - Business & Scent Marketing

Signature scenting for hotels, retail, and hospitality.

What is scent marketing?
Scent marketing - also called olfactory branding - is the deliberate use of fragrance to shape how a space feels and how a brand is remembered. Hotels, retailers, spas, and hospitality groups use a consistent signature scent across their properties because scent is one of the most powerful triggers of emotion and memory. A well-chosen scent can extend dwell time, lift perceived quality, and create the kind of sensory consistency that becomes part of the brand itself.
How can Nēbu fragrances benefit my business?
A commercial-grade Nēbu HVAC scent diffuser delivers a uniform signature scent across every room your air system serves - without the harsh chemical profile typical of low-end commercial scenting. For boutique hotels, retail stores, spas, real estate staging, and event spaces, this is the same architecture used by luxury brands worldwide - at a price point that makes sense for independent operators.
Do you offer wholesale or B2B partnerships?
Yes. We work directly with hospitality groups, design firms, and retail partners on custom scenting programs, bulk pricing, and signature blends. Request a wholesale account, or email hello@nebuluxury.com with details about your space and we'll set up a conversation.
